Just wondering what projects you guys have in mind for your little 'bots. Personally I'm still deciding between a few concepts that are bubbling away in my mind (including a joint project between this and the Chronos kit).

I cannot think of much as this robot does not seem mechanically capable of much.
What comes to mind right now is having it push around wooden blocks to build large letters to spell things.

well, I'm really thinking about stuffing a webcam, a bunch of servos and an small ethernet crossover cable. So that it will drive towards a pc, and plug itself in it.... Well, may be I should also add a couple of win32 exploits as well, so that it will be some sort of hack-o-bot.

My evalbot will be partly disassembled promptly. The price was too good to resist at $25. It will no longer be a robot, but a greenhouse controller. Planning to step up the H-bridge output to control larger motors to open and close vents. The bump switches will be set to monitor the open and closed position of the vents. Adding temperature sensors, barometric pressure and a homebrew anemometer. MicroSD card will log data. Ethernet to WAP for connectivity back to the main house. A few GPIOs for controlling solenoids to open irrigation valves and monitor float switches. Maybe even a servo to make an auto fish feeder in the Tilapia tank. The OLED will be a clock and temp display in the greenhouse. We'll see how it goes. GWDev I like that one. I was thinking of something similar in terms of disassembling it and using it in a different way. Nothing as constructive as your idea yet though.

I'm taking a class now in real-time operating systems and have to make a project. I plan on using the bot for this. This just happen to be perfect timing. Of course if it doesn't get shipped i'm out of luck.... Come on Ti.....Please ship soon

GWDev This looks like an overkill for such an application. some atmega8 + cheap servos can have the same thing done. If you want ethernet - atmega16 then and tuxgraphics tcp/ip stack. It will still be cheaper than 25$

Please don't murder your EvalBot... I am sure we can work something out... Something more interesting, and mobile!

I was thinking of making a drink server (if it is able to support any weight).

I was thinking of making a drink server (if it is able to support any weight). I doubt it could support much, but perhaps you could make a cart for it to pull? Or just use it to serve something lighter. If using it to serve something that everyone will want some of (salt and pepper come to mind. You could set up some kind of touch recognition on the table (perhaps microphone based) so people could request something by tapping the table twice.

I was looking at installing an added 2-way wireless (bluetooth??) on board plus a vid cam.
But #1 on the list as now I have an excuse to learn a programming language that is actually useful, like the MSP430.

Those are also things I want to install. We shall see how wireless works out. Hopefully the deal extreme bluetooth adapter could be made to work. I don't know how much the TI wireless solution would cost. www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11866

I got one of those tiny dongles and it didn't even work in my PC. Not sure if it was a single bad device, or if the build quality in general is bad, but be careful (though for that price you could order a few I guess).
For those interested, the dongle enumerated on the bus ok, but then disconnected and started over and continued doing that in a loop.
