I believe we need to get a thread going for all the people who don't know a lot about programming. Myself included, I think this could be a great project to get started on. I think of myself as an avid tinkerer. I have always been into electronics and how things work. Never got much into programming. BASIC is about as deep as I have gone. I hope this project will get me a little deeper into it. I am willing to help as much as I can. Just PM with whatever you need. Thanks.

Your experience level is comparable to mine and I hope to learn much more about programming through projects on the Evalbot

I've programmed on many different microcontrollers from microchip, atmel, motorola ti and most recently luminary micro. I'd offer the suggestion that some c/c++ or java programming experience would be very helpful to a newcomer as well as a basic understanding of how a processor operates. At a minimum I would suggest getting the book that goes along with this eval board. I don't mean to discourage anyone but learning a new programming environment with its own tools, debug process, etc and a new programming language and hardware may prove to be a daunting challenge. It may be worth it to get one of the low end arm processors that luminary offers like the lm3s100 series and do a few breadboard projects before diving into a higher end device like the one on this bot board. Either way, expect to do lots of reading and learning and dont get discouraged when you get stuck, possibly for hours (or days), on some seemingly simple problem. The learning curve, especially at your experience level, will be quite steep at first. Good luck

But the book costs nearly four times the cost of the bot! If anyone knows somewhere to get the book for less please mail me at edward@nardella.ca

Agreed. VB I can handle. With my MSP430 I was excited to start to learn a language but now with the evalbot I think the motivation will be a lot higher.

Hi, I bet many of the newbies here (me 1st in line) would like to eventually be able to combine the evalbot with the launchpad we also bought. Then we would all feel really smart, and show everybody what we can do! I know, I know.... small steps. But that would be pretty cool!!! Thanks, Robert
